My life took a sharp turn lately. With the debilitating financial crisis well underway, I have found myself without a job. Fortunately, I have several things going for me: I have a car that I completely own, a house that I've inherited, and I have a part-time business that I share with my girlfriend.

My girlfriend and I have been setting up booths at craft fairs for a while now, maybe a couple of years. We sold my girlfriend's handmade jewelry there. When we started, it was only a partial income we invested together, but now, we've decided to use it for the time being as an everyday thing. Until the financial crisis is over, we are currently content with what we already have.

The cheapness of the material my girlfriend used to make her handcrafted jewelry ensures that people will continue to purchase from us even though the financial recession means that a thrifty attitude has been adopted by most people. irregardless of how it actually occurs, it's important you take steps to protect yourself and your children and your finances. And please note that there is a wrong way and a right way to do this. If you follow the steps outlined below you will protect your interests in a manner that is both fair and reasonable.

Sadly, in divorce one spouse is often at a disadvantage and suffers detriment due to unequal bargaining power. If you follow these steps, however, you will not be disadvantaged. In a perfect world, you and your spouse would be able to workout all of your problems and reach a compromise in a reasonable fashion. Unfortunately, things often become adversarial. Follow the steps outlined below to protect your interests. Be aware, though, that you should make a good-faith effort to reach a compromise with your spouse before acting rashly.

To protect your children, if you have them, you must (1) get a TRO; (2) not allow your spouse to take the kids and leave; (3); stay in the family home and (4) insist on a 50-50 split for parenting time. First, Get a Temporary Restraining Order that explicitly prevents your spouse from taking the children out of state. You do not want to be fighting for custody across state lines. Doing this helps with the Second item, not allowing your spouse to take the kids and run. Third, if you move out you might be doing serious detriment to getting custody.

if you already moved out, however, move back in today. While this may cause additional stress you will be safeguarding your custody rights. Fourth, do not agree to less than 50% custody. Your spouse doesn't have a better right or greater right to custody and you do. Furthermore, if you agree to less than 50% custody you will be setting a precedent for the future. Insist upon a 50% split.

Carat, in the jewelry industry, is the term used to measure a diamond's weight. Not to be confused with karat, which is measures the purity of gold alloys, one carat equals to 200 milligrams and is divided into 100 points.

Since large diamonds are rare and are in more demand than smaller diamonds of the same quality, they are much more expensive. For example, a 2-carat diamond would fetch a heftier price than 2 1-carat diamonds of the same quality.

So when looking at buying a diamond, it's best to consider what carat you're looking for. When comparing different diamonds, make sure that they are of similar quality and features.

Calculating the price per carat is a great way to compare costs of similar diamonds. Divide the cost of each stone by its carat weight to come up with its price per carat.

There are also other things to consider in terms of diamond carat and size when looking to buying a gemstone. The type of jewelry setting will also be important.

The most commonly purchased diamond piece is the engagement ring. When buying one, consider your budget and explore different options as there are a range of carats and sizes that will be within your budget.

You are concentrating on her, and her alone; with your soft-spoken japes and bona fide concern in what she is saying, you draw her closer. Nod, grin, chuckle, tantalise her. Touch her arm while speaking to her. A slightly spicy remark may be appropriate, to test how far you can go. You need to dispel the idea that you might be 'just being chummy'.

- Find someone who lives or works near you. A twenty-mile radius is about the limit; five-to-ten would be better. If you can't see each other easily you don't have a relationship; it's harder to go to a pub or a coffee shop or just go for a walk together spontaneously.
